Conference on new southeast asian cinemas
Indonesian shorts are still considered 'exclusive', whether as the result of academic requirements at the only film school in Indonesia (Film & Television Faculty, Jakarta Institute for the Arts/ikJ), or from a creative proces whereby the creator wants to present to a limited community or be included in a film festival. The problems that confront Ir.donesian short film production cannot be detached from issues of distribution. As long as there is no easy access to viewing Indonesian shorts, Indonesian short film production will remain limited to those few who already have access. Another major problem is that the network and availability of information needed to produce short films are still very limited. In this paper, therefore, I would like to focus on the distribution of short films as an important element in their production.
